Reading the data from spreadsheet without having MS Excel

I have Libre office to read the data from the spreadsheet.
But I am not able read the spreadsheet without having MS Excel.
When I have tried to use Excel, It troughs an exception saying that "MS Excel is not installed on this machine" .

Is it possible to work on spreadsheet without having MS Excel? if so, please give me the solution.

Thanks

  • No it is not possible, directly. Maybe you can save the spreadsheet as CSV instead, because AA can work very well with CSV or text files.

    Thanks for your replay.

I am able to read and write the data from the spreadsheet by using keystrokes considering the spreadsheet as a normal file.
    for example,

    [F2][CTRL DOWN][SHIFT DOWN][HOME][SHIFT UP][CTRL UP][CTRL DOWN]c[CTRL UP]

to copy all the text from the particular cell.

I couldn't find any other way to work with spreadsheet.

how to create new csv file from the existing xlsx file?

  • Hi @lsprajesh77 ,
You can use save as option in excel or read the excel and then use log file command to write the data in to new CSV file.
